The Jim Jones Revue With Savage Heart In Hand

British rockers The Jim Jones Revue invade America this week with their eagerly anticipated third studio album The Savage Heart ([PIAS]/Punk Rock Blues Records.)

Produced by Jim Sclavunos (GrindermanNick Cave & The Bad Seeds), The Savage Heart’s nine tracks were recorded at The Chapel (Lincolnshire) and West Heath Yard (Edwyn Collins’ London studio) last summer and mixed by Jim Abbiss (Arctic Monkeys, DJ Shadow, The Temper Trap) at Elephant and Castle’s The Engine Room; with “spiritual advice” from Nick Lowe (who dropped by rehearsals for added expertise.)

The album is The Jim Jones Revue’s most exhilarating work to date, expanding upon the sonic remit of the band beyond their renowned brand of manic rock ‘n’ roll to explore a virtual “heart of darkness” of new musical territory in the form of tribal stomps, field hollers, a capella rave-ups–even a fuzzed-out feedback-laden doo-wop ballad.

The Savage Heart swaggers with all the balls-out rocking of its predecessors, but with an expansive palette of sounds and even socially conscious lyrics.

Notorious for their maniacal high-energy shows, The Jim Jones Revue have been described by MOJO as “the greatest rock n’ roll band in the world right now.”
