We Welcome Splendid Record Factory, Dream Koala, and Télépopmusik

It’s been over a decade since French electronic act Télépopmusiks first release, Genetic World, and more specifically the slinky, Grammy-nominated track “Breath” featuring Scottish vocalist Angela McCluskey, which nearly defined an era of sophisticated, down-tempo French music (along with compatriots Air, Les Rythmes Digitales and Dimitri from Paris) in the mid 2000s.

Having now sold over 500,000 albums worldwide (350,000 in the US), Télépopmusik’s elegant sound is now firmly engrained in the public’s subconscious through hit singles, sold-out tours and the use of their music on many high-profile advertising campaigns.

Having been locked away in the studio for most of the past 18 months, the group’s core members2Square (Stephan Haeri) and Antipop (Christophe Hetier)—are now putting the finishing touches on what will be their third album, slated for release at the end of this year on newly founded Paris-based label Splendid Record Factory.  The band’s new opus will feature the vocal talents of New York’s own Betty Black (aka Sylvia Gordon of KUDU) & Swedish singer Johanna Wedin, as well as the return of the now US-based (and ever iconic) Angela McCluskey with a few surprise guests.

The end of July marked the first release from the new album: a 2-song EP remix bundle featuring “Fever / Try Me Anyway”, featuring Betty Black and remixes from Dirty Channels, Zombie Disco Squad, Populette, Pit Spector and Pino Rastovitch, available now on iTunes here. You can also check out the video for “Try Me Anyway” here.

Another new Splendid Factory Records release includes the Dream Koala debut, full-length EP, Odyssey, due out September 23rd.  You can now listen and share the title track here (which achieved the #4 position on The Hype Machine this week) from the young 18-year old Paris-raised-by-Brazilian-parents, Yndi Ferreira.  A self taught musician, Yndi played in his first groups in his early teenage years. By the time Dream Koala was born in 2012, Yndi was already producing his own tracks & re-mixing the likes of Angel Haze & The 1975.

Rock Steady is proud to represent master and publishing for both of these talented artists on behalf of this great new label.
